Best women’s history month movies

Hidden Figures” (2016) -- A group of women mathematicians (Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monáe) aid NASA and their astronauts on a mission to the moon. This true-life tale was Oscar nominated, but ended up with zero wins. Grade: B+

Proud Mary” (2018) -- “Hidden Figures” Taraji P. Henson (“Hidden Figures”) is a Boston-area hit woman named Mary who works for an organized crime family. The mobsters befriend a young boy. That forces Mary to make a major life change. B-

Bound” (1996) -- Prior to making Keanu Reeves a certified action hero in “The Matrix” trilogy, the Wachowski brothers helmed this witty and well-shot crime-thriller tale involving Jennifer Tilly, Gina Gershon and $2 million in laundered money. A-

Marie Antoinette” (2006) -- Kirsten Dunst stars in this historical drama about the 15-year-old queen and her marriage to King Louis XVI (Jason Schwartztman). Directed by Oscar-winner Sofia Coppola (“Lost in Translation”). C+

Norma Rae” (1979) -- Sally Field won a Best Actress Oscar for her role as the title character, a tough-as-nails textile worker who faces opposition aplenty in unionizing her workplace. A-
